In the last seven decades, India has developed dynamic chemical, automotive, furniture, and construction industries, with Indian companies now at the forefront of global innovation. As a result, the Indian Government has committed to net zero carbon emissions by 2070, as announced at the COP26 summit.

The Polyurethane market is quickly adopting the path of sustainability, and there is a growing movement towards decarbonisation. The time when India will become a key producer of novel bio-polyols that – crucially – do not compete with agricultural land is not far off. Moreover, India is the largest producer of the world’s first renewable (natural) polymer – shellac, the insect sap used in polishes and glazes.
